End of Local Registrations for Buses

It would appear that due to closure of local DVLA offices that buses will no longer be registered with local area letters. Some are being registered with area marks of the manufacturer, so buses built in Falkirk are appearing with SN marks. Also there are Wright built Streetlites in Sheffield with SM marks - what a shambles.
This will change things drastically as the local registrations have been very much part of the history of the bus and have brought so much more interest into the hobby.
It makes a mockery of having area identification letters. What next, Honda cars registered in Derby, Nissans in Sunderland?
