Rail link service

Further to the Stagecoach Chesterfield EMT service that commenced on the 6th June (see flickr posting), there was an earlier such sort of operation in the late 1990s. Back then though it ran as a link to the West Coast Main Line at Macclesfield, although I believe there was a link to the Midland Mainline at Chesterfield Station. Three Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Super Pointer Darts were acquired by Stagecoach as fleet numbers 801-803 in the East Midland fleet and adorned in a dedicated Virgin Trains livery along with reduced seating to allow for extra luggage space. Ostensibly the service operated between Macclesfield and Buxton, although there were journeys to and from Bakewell, Castleton and Chatsworth House.
Also the Orient Express called at Chesterfield recently and was met by a fleet of coaches.
