Go North East takes delivery of the first of their Optare Solo SR midi-buses

Go North East’s New Optare Solo SR Midi-bus
is unveiled by Peter Huntley, Managing Director of GNE
and John Horn, Sales Director, Optare.

This week sees Go North East continuing to invest as the company takes delivery of its first Optare Solo SR midi-bus, following further successes in winning new bus contracts with Nexus.

Optare Solo SR midi-buses from Optare’s Solo range will eventually join every Nexus Accessible Bus Network in Tyne and Wear. Each bus will be fitted with a range of technological innovations aimed at passenger comfort and the midi-bus also prides itself on being one of the most ergonomic and fuel efficient buses on the roads today. They feature Optare’s Eco Drive dashboard to help drivers save fuel and monitor their driving styles and a full telematics package is fitted. CCTV is fitted throughout each bus.

Go North East plans to run the first Optare Solo SR on route M71 and it will serve the communities of Newbiggin Hall, Westerhope and Kingston Park. Later this year it will be joined by a further eight midi-buses from late August onwards. These buses will be used on Nexus routes such as 37, 59, 68, 73, 516 and W3.

Nexus is the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive and administers funds on behalf of the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority.
