Tony Wilson visited Nottingham recently to see the new Trent electric Solos operating on the city centre free service. Only one was actually in service, with another one observed within the Broadmarsh bus station. The standard Solos were operating on the route and one of Tony's pictures shows the two types together.
A bonus was the sighting of the MAN EcoCity bus on a 10-week loan to Nottingham City Transport and assigned to the Racecourse Park-&-Ride service.
The Solo EV produces zero tailpipe
emissions and according to the Optare website has good
acceleration and hill climbing capabilities
and a top speed of up to 90 km/hour. On a full
charge it has a range of around 110-130 kilometres
depending on load factors and topography.
