Stagecoach Launch New Vehicles for Lake District Services

The new Enviro 400 MMC vehicles that will operate in Cumbria and North Lancashire were launched in Kendal yesterday. One of the new buses was posed in the market place giving the public an opportunity for a close inspection.
The leather seated interior was of particular interest to those climbing aboard, making a big contrast to the standard Stagecoach interior seating trim.
Stagecoach have placed orders this year for around 480 new buses which all meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards. Over the last 10 years the company have invested £1billion in the purchase of 6,500 new vehicles.
The new Enviro 400's are said to be lighter, more fuel efficient and have a heating and ventilation system that ensures a high standard of passenger comfort.

Current Enviro 400's are based on Scania chassis. The new vehicles utilise Alexander Dennis
running units and Cummins engines and it will be interesting to see how the new vehicles
perform on the hilly demanding routes of the lake District.
