Euro Bus Expo - Enviro 400 CBG

ADL and Scania have worked together to bring to market the new Enviro400CBG
biogas powered double deck bus.

Building on success with single deck gas buses, a key challenge was overcome in the placement of fuel cylinders under the staircase and under seats at the rear of the upper deck, keeping saloon intrusion to an absolute minimum. Fuelled with compressed biogas, the Scania engine is derived from its Euro 6 diesel equivalent with only around 40 parts changed. Accredited to LCEB standards, the Enviro400CBG has up to 20% lower CO2 emissions than Euro 6 diesel and its environmental benefits are further increased by using sustainably sourced bio-methane as fuel.

Reading Buses already has the UK’s largest gas bus fleet and it will become the first ever
operator in the country to run double deck gas buses when five of these vehicles enter
service later this month. They have been built to an exacting specification that gives
passengers a high quality journey experience. Amenities such as USB power sockets and
coat hooks are available at all seats. Vis-à-vis seating supports social interaction around a
table with integrated aircharge wireless charging pod. Bespoke litter bins on the upper deck help keep the bus clean.
